Lososí hromadu jsme naporcovali a zamrazili, a ve středu ráno se vydali na okružní jízdu kolem jižní části ostrova.
Teta Lucinka rozdala práci zaměstnancům a rozhodla se k nám na par dní přidat. Shane musel doma hlídat pejska Tonku a taky pracovat, a tak přijela sama a bez auta.
V RV máme dost sedadel i postelí, a bylo fajn si spolu ještě užít nějaký čas. Kdo ví, kdy se zase příště uvidíme! Protože jsme ji z přístavu v Nanaimo vyzvedávali až večer, měli jsme celý den na průzkum okolí.
Ráno jsme se zajeli podívat na veliké stromy v Cathedral grove. Byla to asi 2 km procházka lesem a dozvěděli jsme se zajímavé informace o místních velikánech. Západní červený cedr je dokonce oficiálním symbolem Britské Kolumbie. Je jednou z nejtrvanlivějších měkkých dřevin světa, padlý strom vydrží bez známek rozkladu přes 100 let!
Charlince jsme dali pytlík na sbírání pokladů. To ji pohltilo tak, že si ani nevšimla, že sama ušla celý okruh.
V poledne jsme se ještě zajeli podívat na Englishman River falls. Nakonec jsme zvládli dojít jen k jednomu z vodopádů. Cesta zpět bez kalhot rozesmála nejednoho turistu!
Následujících pár dní jsme cestovali ve čtyřech. První den jsme dojeli až na západní pobřeží ostrova a kempovali v překrásném China beach provintial park.
Tenhle kemp byl rozhodně náš nejoblíbenější.
Byl posazen v nádherné přírodě mezi vysokými stromy a jednotlivé plácky byly tak daleko od sebe, že jsme si tam připadali téměř sami.
Na pláž to byl kilometr kouzelným voňavým lesem.
Další den jsme si ještě projeli sousední pláže a prošli se podívat na Botanical Beach.
Večer jsme kempovali v Gordon Bay provintial park na největším jezeře ostrova, Cowichan Lake.
Kemp byl přímo u vody a měl krásné hřiště pro děti.
Nafoukli jsme SUP a prozkoumali na něm místní pobřeží a další den už jsme zamířili zpět do Nanaimo.
Rezervaci na trajekt jsme měli v neděli brzo ráno a tak jsme poslední noc kempovali v RV parku poblíž.
Přejezd zpět do Pemby nám docela utekl a odpoledne stihli kluci jít ještě rybařit na místní řeku.
V pondělí nás Lucka vzala na farmu a taky pozdravit koníky. Zase jsme se jim nacpali domů.
Konečně jsme taky rozsekli dilema kam dál a přebookovali letenky.
Shodli jsme se, že USA a jižní Ameriku necháme na příště, a vrátíme se do Austrálie o něco dříve.
Je fajn být dobrodruh, ale taky je důležité si umět přiznat, když se plány ukáží být nad vaše síly.
Po cestě domů jsme si ale přihodili malou zastávku. Uhádnete kam?

We cut up and froze a bunch of salmon, and on Wednesday morning set of on a road trip around the southern part of the island.
Aunt Lucy distributed the work to her employees and decided to join us for a few days. Shane had to look after the dog Tonka at home and also work, so she came alone and without the car.
We have plenty of seats and beds in the RV, and it was nice to enjoy some more time together. Who knows when we'll see each other again!
Since we weren't picking her up from the port in Nanaimo until the evening, we had the whole day to explore the area.
In the morning we went to see the big trees in Cathedral grove. It was a 2 km walk through the forest and we learned interesting information about the local giants. The western red cedar is even the official symbol of British Columbia. It is one of the most durable soft woods in the world, a fallen tree can last for over 100 years without signs of decay!
We gave Charlie a treasure bag. She was so engrossed in searching for treasures that she didn't even notice she had walked the entire circuit by herself.
At noon, we went to see the Englishman River falls. In the end, we only managed to reach one of the waterfalls. The journey back without pants made many tourists laugh!
The next few days we traveled with Lucy. On the first day, we reached the west coast of the island and camped in the famous China beach provincial park.
This campsite was definitely our favorite. Set in beautiful nature among tall trees, the individual sites felt very private.
It was a kilometer walk through a magical fragrant forest to the beach.
The next day we drove around the neighboring beaches and went to see the Botanical Beach.
In the evening we camped at Gordon Bay provincial park on the island's largest lake, Cowichan Lake.
The campsite was right by the water and had a lovely playground for children.
We inflated the SUP and explored the local coastline on it. The next day we had to drive back to Nanaimo.
Our ferry was leaving early Sunday morning so we camped the last night at an RV park nearby.
The trip back to Pemberton was quick and easy and in the afternoon the boys even managed to go fishing on the local river.
On Monday, Lucka took us to the farm and also to say hello to the horses.
At last the dilemma of where to go next has been resolved.
We agreed to leave the US and South America for next time and return to Australia a bit earlier.
It's great to be an adventurer, but it's also important to be able to admit when the plans turn out to be more than you can take.
But on the way home, we booked a small stopover. Can you guess where?
