Week 25 MELBOURNE TO COFFS

Ze dne na den jsme se rozhodli, že tuhle bitvu s počasím vzdáváme. Uvědomili jsme si, že jsme jen cca 900 km od domova. Na australské poměry je to vlastně za rohem, a tak se sem vrátíme, až bude hezky a teplo, a pořádně si to užijeme.

Doma jsme potřebovali být osmého, měla jsem totiž kontrolu u doktora.

Protože byla ve Viktorii opravdu zima, rozhodli jsme se pro taktiku hledání tepla. Zastavíme, až bude tepleji a bude svítit sluníčko.

První místo, které jsme si opravdu užili bylo za hranicí Viktorie a NSW. Jmenovalo se Merimbula.

V kempu měli bazén a super trampolínu, a taky park pro děti.

Odpoledne jsme vzali Charlie do dětského centra na bowling. Nakonec měla více bodů, než já! 

Ve městě jsme navíc objevili tu nejlepší zmrzlinu, jakou jsme kdy měli! 

K tomu všemu bylo krásně slunečno a teplo! Jakoby nám NSW chtělo říct: “to jste museli objet celou Austrálii, abyste zjistili, kde je nejlíp?”

Další den jsme zastavili ve městě Narooma. Krom toho, že se jedná o opravdu hezké rybářské městečko, zde mají ještě jednu atrakci. Žije tady kolonie tuleňů. Napočítali jsme jich 17, byli hezky vyvalení na kamenné zdi u přístavu a Charlinku jsme od nich nemohli odtrhnout. Moc ji bavilo je pozorovat, jak se spolu dorozumívají a plavou, a vůbec jí nevadilo, že hrozně smrděli.

Další noc jsme strávili v kempu v Jervis Bay. Nádherné pláže a nedotčená příroda rozhodně stojí za návštěvu. Navíc jsme se dozvěděli, že Jervis Bay nepatří pod NSW.

Přestože administrativně spadá pod ACT, jedná se o autonomní území.

Naše předposlední noc už byla v Airbnb. Do Wooloongongu jsme se chtěli podívat už dlouho. Našli jsme tam tu nej pizzu, jakou jsme kdy měli! 

Město samotné nám nijak výjimečné nepřipadalo, ale okolní městečka a pláže jsou opravdu něco! Severně od města se nachází známý Sea cliff bridge, panoramatický úsek cesty který se místy klikatí nad vodou.

Poslední noc jsme ještě vmáčkli návštěvu u Scottyho. Karley byla na pracovní cestě a tak byli doma jen kluci.

Prckové si pohráli a taťkové si udělali oheň a vypili basu piv.

Lepší rozloučení s tímhle naším dobrodružstvím jsme si ani nemohli přát!

From day to day we decided to give up this battle with the weather. We realised that we are only about 900 km from home. By Australian standards it's actually just around the corner, so we'll come back here when it's nice and warm.

We needed to be home by the 8th of November, because I had a check-up with the doctor. 

Since it was really cold in Victoria, we decided on a heat-seeking tactic. We will stop when it is warmer and the sun is shining. 

The first place that ticked all the boxes was over the border of Victoria and NSW. It was called Merimbula. 

In the campsite they had a swimming pool and a great trampoline, and also a park for children. In the afternoon we took Charlie to the children's center for bowling. She ended up with more points than me! 

Plus we discovered the best ice cream we've ever had in town! On top of all that, it was beautifully sunny and warm! 

As if NSW was trying to say: "did you have to drive all the way around Australia to find out which state is the best?"

The next day we stopped in the town of Narooma. In addition to being a really nice fishing town, they have one great attraction here. A colony of seals lives here. 

We counted 17 of them, they were nicely spread out on the stone wall by the harbour and we couldn't separate Charlinka away from them. She really enjoyed watching them communicate and swim, and she didn't mind that they smelled awful. 

We spent the next night camping in Jervis Bay. The beautiful beaches and untouched nature are definitely worth a visit. In addition, we learned that Jervis Bay does not belong to NSW. Although administratively under the ACT, it is an autonomous territory.

Our second last night was already in Airbnb. We've wanted to visit Wooloongong for a long time.

The city itself didn't seem special to us, but the surrounding towns and beaches are really something! North of the city is the famous Sea cliff bridge, a panoramic stretch of road that meanders above the water in some places. 

For our last night we squeezed in a visit to Scotty's. Karley was on a business trip so it was just the boys. The kids played and the dads made a fire and drank a lot of beers. 

We couldn't have asked for a better farewell to this adventure of ours!
